Questions

Someone emailed me these questions and I thought it would be best to post the responses publicly:

1. Do I need to create a blog outside of here (a web page) to fully utilize this system, and where is the link to do this?

No, you do not need a blog outside of here to fully utilize this system. If you have one, then you could link from here to there and vice versa to MAXIMIZE the exposure of your writing. In fact, a good idea would be to use your Google ad code on both Writernia and your own blog. You can post a free blog with Google code at:

http://www.blogger.com

2. How would an advertiser know whether to use your web page, and what if you wouldn't actually want to be associated with an advertiser that did anyway?

Google advertisers bid on keywords. The Google bots go through and pull up ads based on keywords in the pages. So if you have an article on "automobile repair" then it's possible that your ads will be about automobile repair.

Google AdSense does have a way to block out specific advertisers; however, your revenue sharing is based on a 50% split where the ad code will be alternated betweens yours and ours (the publishers of this site). Because of this, even if you did filter out specific advertisers on your Google code, it would not apply to our code and the ads could still show up.

If you are that concerned about your advertisers, then you should not publish on any site where Google ads are. Personally, I wouldn't stress over it, there are bigger things in life to worry about.

3. If you're writing short stories or sketches, should they be posted twice, once here and once on the external web page or blog?

If you have your own web page or blog then you are welcome to publish in both places. It's not a bad idea to reuse your own content. I will certainly be publishing things here I have published on my own blogs. Get the most out of your writing.

I hope that helps,
Stephanie
