Hello Writernians,
While I realize that not everyone on Writernia shares the same political views (and some of you are downright anti-union), I hope that you will at least consider supporting the Writers Guild of America strike.
I live in Los Angeles and I know a lot of television writers. None of the ones I know are rich, and that includes some folks who have written regularly for top shows such as Saturday Night Live.
The issue with the Writers Guild of America strike is that networks do not want to pay writers for any Internet streaming. Imagine if you wrote a book that was distributed over the Internet, and the publisher got paid but you did not. You'd be pretty POed too.
For a very helpful and brief video explaining the residuals issue, please see:
I am not in the WGA myself but plan on doing some picketing here in Hollywood. You can also show your support for the writers in your own blogs or by writing the studios.
Keep on writing!
Stephanie
