Lying in bed working on his laptop, Mark tried not to let his mind wander. He tried to stay focused on the reports that were supposed to be completed for work the next day. Time hadn't faded her memory anymore than it had dulled the pain. She would cross his mind during the day from time to time but much more often late at night. It had been more than three years since he'd seen her. They didn't part on very good terms. She was married which made their relationship much more complicated. Despite this, they shared a love that most people could only dream about. Stolen moments here and there were all they could manage but it was enough. They had promised each other that if they both found themselves free, they would give that love a real chance. That's why it had come as such a shock when he received her letter. The letter was almost four pages but there were only three words that he could remember, “Let me go.” For those three years, he'd kept the letter in the night stand next to his bed. It was all he had left of her and he couldn't let it go. Unable to concentrate, he decided the report could wait until morning.
