Don't believe we're headed for a time similar to Nazi Germany? Read up on the new plan by the Department of Homeland Security to have you get permission from the government before flying anywhere WITHIN the United States.
Long story short? You will be required to get cleared by the DHS before any corporate travel company will issue you a boarding pass.
The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act (IRTPA) requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to assume from aircraft operators the function of conducting pre-flight comparisons of airline passenger information to Federal Government watch lists for international and domestic flights."
"This rule proposes to allow TSA to ... receive passenger and certain non-traveler information, conduct watch list matching ... and transmit boarding pass printing instructions back to aircraft operators."
Okay, let me get this straight. O.J. Simpson is back in jail for "allegedly" committing armed robbery and there are people saying that he was set up. My response to all this..?
Um... so the hell what? Even if he was set up, he got away with the murder of his wife and Ron Goldman, so I have absolutely no sympathy for him if it was a setup. The man is scum and deserves a lot worse than he's going to get.
Let's face it, the man wrote a book on how he would have killed his wife and Ron Goldman IF he did do it. To me, this is a blatant admission of guilt and the opportunity to capitalize on the fact that there is nothing that the court system can do about it. They can't try him for the same crime twice. If you're innocent, why write a book about how you WOULD have done it? Makes no sense.
Alright, now, I know I'm going to be accused of being insensitive, but you know, sometimes people just make really stupid decisions and expect ridiculous things out of the government and tax payers.
I understand Hurricane Katrina was a big deal and I know how many people were affected by it, but now people are wanting to rebuild their homes in the exact same area they were in before the hurricane hit. Private insurance companies do not want to insure these homes and it seems like most of the people wanting to rebuild are crying foul. I'm sorry, but I do not blame those insurance companies for refusing to cover those homes and businesses. What I care for even less is the fact that now they want the United States government to insure them instead.
.. and passes their new "universal health care" plan for their state, which includes at least a 15% increase in the state's payroll tax, from what I just heard on the news. I happen to agree with Glenn Beck:
I hope the legislation passes, the whole state goes bankrupt, and they save the other 49 states from the socialist, idiotic program that is known as "universal health care".
Universal health care is socialism, kids!
I have recently realized that I have absolutely no tolerance or sympathy for stupid people. I really, really do not. You know what I mean? Did you ever just see something on the news or in a documentary that just made you say "oh, how stupid!"..? I seem to see a lot of that these days.
Lots of people are talking about the new documentary "Sicko" by Michael Moore and while I have a huge problem with the health care system of the United States, I do not believe that a universal health care system is the way to go in this country.
I don't get the whole obsession with removing junk food from schools in the United States.
Yeah, there's an obesity problem in this country and I agree with limiting a child's access to junk food, but I hate it when parents try to blame their own shortcomings on something or someone besides themselves. What am I talking about? Well, for one, how exactly does a child at the age of 6 or 7 get the money to buy a Coca-cola, a snickers bar, a twinkee, and a bag of chips for lunch? THEIR PARENTS!
Okay, I understand that some parents are worried about their kids getting too much sex education in schools, but really... what is the big deal about teaching a 5 year old what the difference is between appropriate touching and inappropriate touching while they're in kindergarten?
I don't believe in teaching kids younger than about 10 about "the birds and the bees", but if teaching kids certain aspects of sexuality (the difference between a boy and a girl and to keep their private parts to themselves) can do something to protect them, then why not do it?
It's impractical. The United States would go broke if we tried to pay every descendant of a slave in this country some kind of reparations for pain and suffering that people who are alive today didn't even have to go through.
Two, I don't believe in giving someone something for nothing.
What gives the parents of this or any other country the right to think that just because they have children, they should be given special rights?
If you're in public and you breast feed and your baby is hungry, it doesn't really bother me that much to see you whip out a boob and start feeding it on the park bench. That's not what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about people learning to control their kids and know when they need to leave them at home instead of taking them alone.
For example, a few months ago, my brother and I went to the theater to see Spiderman 3. Now, this would've been a great time... if not for the fact that three rows behind us was a mother, grandmother, and a baby that could not have been over a year old.
